A new hostess club is about to begin and it’s filling up fast. Here is the info in a nutshell. It’s a six month commitment with six people (Nov- Apr). Everyone commits to purchasing at least $25 worth of product each month and the six will rotate who the hostess will be. This will be an online only club so you will get the monthly projects emailed to you (you may even get a surprise in the mail!) We are going to start on Nov 10th with the orders due by the 20th for the 1st month. I will send instructions on the 10th with the hostess code (you must use this code so the hostess gets credit for your order). When it is your month you are more than welcome and encouraged to get other orders. I will even send catalogs to whom ever you want me to (just need to know ASAP so I can mail them out–sometimes they take over a week to get there). If you have any questions or are interested leave a comment and email me ASAP! This is a great way to build your supplies slowly. You are guaranteed at least $25 in hostess rewards. If you want to digital only that is possible too! The month you are a hostess will work a little different but you just add your downloads to your cart. Joining a hostess club is where I learned the most about stamping and crafting in general! You don’t want to miss this!
Don’t forget to share this on Facebook!!! If you know anyone who would be interested please let me know!
I have been taking pictures of my projects for several years now and always wondered how people are getting such amazing pictures. So I started looking for a little guidance. I found this article! It’s great and works with many subjects (not just projects that stays put!) This article is from eHow.com.
Proper lighting is one of the most crucial elements of a good picture, yet is one of the most commonly overlooked. Follow these simple steps to make sure your pics impress.
Step 1 –
Determine the “dominant light source.” An easy way to do this is to look at the shadows in the area – they will point away from the dominant light source. If there are multiple light sources, the dominant one will create the darkest shadows.
Step 2 –
Decide what type of shot you’re after. Usually you’ll be wanting a fully-lit shot of your subject with as little shadow as possible.
Step 3 –
If you’re going for a normal, well-lit photo, shoot away from the light source. This will eliminate harsh shadows and make sure your subject is lit up in your pic.
Other Tips –
- Don’t rely on the flash! Most digital cameras have an automatic flash that’s there to “fill” in bad lighting situations. Problem is, it’s usually a pretty harsh light, and can wind up reflecting off your subject and making them look washed out. If there’s enough light in the area and you’re following these steps, turn the flash off!
- If you’re outside during the day, the dominant light source is easy to find – not much is going to outshine that big light in the sky. Shoot away from the sun whenever possible.
- Don’t stifle your creativity. Odds are you’ve got over a hundred shots to waste on that camera of yours – use them. This is simply how to properly light a photo – sometimes improper shots can accidentally wow everyone with your artistic ability
Hope it helps with your photos!!
I haven’t posted too much and I’m hoping to change that. Here is a card I made. Have you ever been in a crafting rut–well I’ve been in one and I realized I was just being too hard on myself. Just because the Holiday’s are around the corner doesn’t mean the only projects you can do are holiday (or even fall colors!) so I made this card for a friend and I love how it turned out. You could easier make several of these and just keep them on hand. They would be great thank you cards, thinking of you cards or birthday cards or anything you could think of. You could also change out the greeting for anything that you need as well.
Card Stock: Pacific Point (#111350), Old Olive (#100702), Rich Razzleberry (#115316), Pumpkin Pie (#105117), Very Vanilla(#101650)
Ink: VersaMark (#102193), Summer Starfruit (just as a little color along
Accessories/Embellishments: Black Embossing Powder (#109133) Heat Tool (#129053), Big Shot (#113439), Honeycomb Embossing folder (#129378), Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder(#117335), Square Lattice Embossing Folder (#119976), Decorative Label Punch (#120907), any brad you have ( I used one that is retired (oops one of my favorite though) but you can use any colored or even the antique brads or buttons).
Can you believe that next week we will only be 12 weeks away from Christmas? Me neither. Well to give my business a little jump start and to say thank you to my newsletter subscribers I’ll be sending an extra special project each week (starting next week) until Christmas (12 to be exact incase you didn’t figure that). Anyway these projects will ONLY be sent once and will NOT be posted any where else. The only way to get them is to sign up for my newsletters. Do it soon because you won’t be able to get back weeks! You may sign up in the middle but you will start with whatever week we are on (whether it is #1 or #12). Thank you some much for being patient with me as I try to get my business going. It’s been rough 18 months (as many of you already know) and your continued support has been wonderful! YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THESE AMAZING PROJECTS!!!! Sign up today! (check out the box on the right to sign up!)
I know it is still September but if you don’t get a jump on your decorations Christmas will be here and you’ll still be working on pumpkins! This banner I put together in about 2 hours using the AMAZING kits in the Holiday Mini catalog! You will need the Build a Banner Simply Created kit (#133507) and Halloween Bander Simply Created Accessory Kit (#132698). I also bought an extra Stampin Sprtizer (#126185). These little spritzer tools come in handy when you make the letters. You should be able to use sponge daubers too but I liked the look of the spritzers. What do you think? Should I do a class with this kit?
Well it happened! After 3 months of not being able to craft
I did it. I stopped everything that needed to be done (laundry, dishes, dusting and other house projects that come up from moving) and for 2 hours just crafted. I tell you– IT FELT GREAT!!!! I didn’t accomplish all that I wanted to but hey it takes awhile to get back in the swing of things right? What did I make you ask–well I made a little card gift set, a little birthday gift bag and a gift box from the the OH SO FUN Tag A Bag Gift Boxes and Tag A Bag Accessory Kit. Both kits are are so much fun and make gift giving EASY.
It isn’t too late to sign up for my upcoming Stamp-a-stack! I only have 3 spots left. We will be making 10 cards (2 each of 5 cards). The themes we will be Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Any Occasion, Thank You and Birthday. Here is a sneak peak at the birthday card. It’s only $25 and no experience is necessary! I’ll have everything you need to make these great cards. Sign up by Monday 25 March! Sign up by either leaving me a comment on my Facebook page TamiStamps or by sending me an email firstname.lastname@example.org. Contact me today!!!
Hi All! Thanks to those of you who have been following me in the this crazy journey over the last 6.5 years and those who have stayed with me over the last year. I decided it was time to start blogging again. Not only will it get me creating more but hopefully it will inspire you as well. This blog is under construction so please bare with me as I start to figure out WordPress and learn all the ins and outs. Over the next few months you will see a lot of additions and changes. I know it’s pretty bare right now–I’m still figuring out how to get everything going. But if I don’t start now when would be a good time? Things that you should see over the next few weeks–I”ll start a side bar. This will have links to the catalogs, promotions, archives, tips and other useful links for you. I’ll also start contests and challenges to get you in the craft room too. You’ll see design changes too as I work on a new banner and the overall look of the pages. Thanks so much for joining in the fun and I hope you soon find things that inspire you!
